This joke was HILARIOUS to me when I was 12... a little less so once I hit 22, but I needed to introduce Sarah SOMEhow and opted to just stick with the old script.
A quick note about Sarah: She is the only character other than Caitlin inspired by real life. Sarah was inspired by my next-door-neighbor at the time, who was also one of my best friends. In the Real World I did in fact torment my friend with an endless string of pranks, jokes, and all other nonsense, so when I started drawing JC I decided Caitlin needed someone to torment as well. I ran the idea by my friend, and she was okay with it, as I'd promised the character in JC would not be based off her. The girl was a really good sport about it, too; she helped me a lot with ideas for Sarah's character, personality, and since she had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do was able to show me legitimate black belt moves (which become sort of important for Sarah's character later on). However, Sarah is NOT meant to be my friend from the real world, she just shares a few of my friend's traits.
To my friend in the Real World- you know who you are- Thank you so much, as always. :)
